A Moment That Changed Everything
On February 27th, our daughter Brooklyn was seriously injured after being hit by a 19 ton city bus. What followed changed our lives—and led to something we never expected.
From a Hospital Stay to a Bigger Purpose
While Brooklyn was receiving care in Pittsburgh, I made a trip back home to grab clothes and other things we needed for a longer stay. While I was there, I grabbed a handful of our 3D flexi pets — little creations we had already made and had been meaning to do something with. Back at the hospital, we asked about donating them to other kids receiving care there. The response was immediate. They were a big hit with patients, parents, and even hospital staff. That moment stuck with us. Since then, we’ve decided to use these buddies for something bigger: helping support Brooklyn’s post-accident recuperation and rehabilitation while also creating a way to give back to other families facing difficult hospital stays of their own.

Through BrooklynsBuddies.com, we sell the buddies that helped inspire this whole idea. Each purchase helps support Brooklyn’s post-accident recuperation and rehabilitation, and 25% of proceeds go toward Brooklyn’s Buddy Project — our effort to donate batches of these little friends to children’s hospitals around the country. What began during one of the hardest weeks of our lives has grown into something we hope can bring comfort, encouragement, and a smile to other kids and families when they need it most.
